About 7-Day Eiríksstaðir and Gullfoss Route from Vesturland

Are you ready to explore the most enchanting natural wonders of Iceland with your family? This unique seven-day photography tour covering Kleppavatn and its surroundings offers you the opportunity to build unforgettable memories and immortalize spectacular landscapes. This route is exceptionally meaningful because it includes not only well-known tourist spots but also hidden volcanic gems. You are in one of the rare regions where you can photograph an incredible combination of lava caves, cascading waterfalls, and striking glacier views all in a single journey. Your trip begins peacefully around Kleppavatn on the first day, followed by capturing the mystical light inside the iconic Surtshellir and Stefánshellir caves. The second day introduces you to Strútur and the highly celebrated Víðgelmir cave, perfect for wide-angle shots. On the third day, the forested areas around Húsafell and Húsafellskirkja provide a beautiful contrast with their vibrant green tones. During the fourth and fifth days, you will have plenty of time to practice long-exposure photography at Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, two of the most striking waterfalls on this tour. The sixth day takes you to the famous Ok volcano and nearby lakes, concluding your trip in the Geitland area on the seventh day. Regarding practical tips, sturdy hiking boots are absolutely essential, as the terrain around the caves and waterfalls can be quite slippery. Make sure to pack a reliable tripod for those crisp long-exposure waterfall shots. Please note that since the itinerary relies on access to certain rugged areas, some mountain F-roads leading towards Hálendið are completely closed during winter; therefore, this tour is exclusively designed for the summer season. Even in summer, Icelandic weather can change rapidly, so dressing in layers is highly recommended. On this family photography adventure, the wild and untouched nature of Iceland will present a magnificent visual feast for your lens.
