About Classic Cappadocia Route

Situated in the heart of the İç Anadolu region, this two-day adventure is perfectly tailored for nature and history enthusiasts. Throughout the journey within Nevşehir, you will explore the mysterious world of the underground and the extraordinary valleys formed by volcanic tuffs. This experience, which offers a brilliant visual feast and allows you to witness the deep past of the area, will take you to the traces of life from ancient times. Observing the wonders created by nature and human hands gives visitors the feeling of stepping into a different dimension.

On the first day, we embark on an exploration towards the hidden living spaces extending into the depths. Our first stop, Derinkuyu Yeraltı Şehri, reveals the survival struggle of people with its layered structure descending meters below the surface. After the mystical atmosphere you feel while walking in the narrow corridors of this massive complex, Kaymaklı Yeraltı Şehri becomes the second point of our route. Following these two important cultural heritages, we turn our direction to Nevşehir Müzesi. In this museum, you can closely examine the rich cultural accumulation of the region extending from prehistoric ages to the present. Ürgüp Müzesi, the last stop of the day, completes our initial discovery with its halls full of local finds and ethnographic elements.

We start the second day with Uçhisar Kalesi, one of the highest points offering a magnificent panoramic view. This natural fortress carved into a massive rock block is in a perfect position to watch the surrounding valleys. After leaving the castle, Göreme Örenyeri, where history and faith meet rock-carved structures, appears before us. You can easily examine the beautifully preserved structures in this area, which functions as an open-air museum. Then, we continue our route with a visit to El Nazar Kilisesi, a valuable faith center. We make the finale of the eventful day with Özkonak Yeraltı Şehri, masterfully built into the natural rock formations. This rich heritage will remain in your memories as an impressive example of human adaptation.
