About Karabük: Safranbolu Tour

Housing the most elegant examples of traditional Ottoman civil architecture, Karabük's historical Safranbolu district offers a unique atmosphere with its cobblestone streets and time-defying mansions. This two-day route, where history and nature exist in perfect harmony, provides the opportunity to explore not only the wooden houses on the UNESCO World Heritage list but also the region's dizzying canyons and mysterious caves. You will embark on a delightful journey back in time in this city that harbors a different nostalgia in every corner.

You start your route by exploring the Bulak Mencilis Mağarası, known as nature's underground artwork and one of Turkey's longest caves, famous for its dripstone formations. Emerging from the coolness of the underground, you experience the thrill of walking directly over the abyss on the exciting Kristal Teras, which dominates the unique view of the Tokatlı Canyon. Then, you get lost in the narrow streets of the Safranbolu Tarihi Kenti, included in the UNESCO World Heritage main list and maintaining its nostalgic texture to this day. You end the first day by visiting the Safranbolu Müzesi, which exhibits the region's ethnographic richness and deep-rooted past in detail.

The second day begins with a visit to the massive Cinci Hanı, located on the historical Silk Road and reflecting the vitality of the commercial life of its time. Following the inn, you closely examine the famous Safranbolu Evleri, which captivate onlookers with their bay windows, wooden carvings, and large courtyards, serving as the architectural reflection of the traditional Turkish family structure. Taking a step away from the city's historical texture and turning towards nature, you take a long and relaxing nature walk inside the Tokatlı Kanyonu accompanied by the water flowing through the high cliffs. You conclude this peaceful Black Sea trip by visiting the İbrahim Gavsi Türbesi, notable for its spiritual atmosphere.
