About Inland Mugla

Moving away from the hustle of tourist shores and reaching into the mysterious backyards of the Aegean, this intensive three-day route unearths ancient settlements hidden in the inner parts of Muğla. Bringing together Lycian and Carian cities established at the foothills of high mountains and whispering stories behind steep rocks, this special program takes you to the depths of the past. Best experienced in the cool climate of spring months instead of the scorching summer heat, this tour is a satisfying alternative for travelers who love long walks in untouched areas where history and nature intertwine and discovering authentic villages away from the coast.

We start our historical discovery on the first day with the impressive view of Amintas Örenyeri elegantly carved into steep rocks, and wander among the silent ruins of Pınara Örenyeri, an ancient Lycian city still preserving its mystery. After cooling off in the cold waters of Saklıkent canyon reflecting the splendor of nature, we complete our day by examining the historical texture of Tlos Örenyeri, an important mountainous settlement dominating a magnificent valley. On the second day, we tour Letoon Örenyeri, considered an important religious center of antiquity, and take a historical break among the ruins of Kaunos Örenyeri, famous for its magnificent rock tombs. We crown the day culturally by visiting Marmaris Müzesi, hosting the region's rich archaeological artifacts.

On the final day of this inland route, we explore with great admiration Stratonikeia Örenyeri, one of the largest marble cities of the Carian region notable for its structures. We then trace ancient ceremonies among the mystical columns of Lagina Örenyeri, considered a significant prophecy center of pagan belief. Finally, emerging from the green nature of the inland, we visit Knidos Örenyeri located at the extreme point where the Aegean and Mediterranean waters intersect, witnessing both the beauty of nature and the splendor of antiquity to conclude this tour.
