Gezirota is a free and independent travel itinerary planner designed to turn trip planning into an effortless and enjoyable experience. It helps you create practical, executable routes without getting lost on the map or overwhelmed by scattered travel notes and complicated directions.

What is Gezirota?

Gezirota is an intelligent route planning tool that selects the most suitable stops and arranges them into a logical, day-by-day travel plan when you choose your destination country, regions, and duration. You do not need to register, log in, or create an account to use the application; the platform is completely free.

We provide travelers with three convenient ways to get started:

  • Automated Tour Planner: Enter your starting point, the regions you wish to visit, and your trip duration; our routing engine generates a draft itinerary in seconds.
  • Ready-Made Tours: Pre-crafted route templates designed for popular travel corridors and regions, ready to use immediately or customize to your preferences.
  • Plan with AI: Describe your travel wishes and travel style in your own words, and artificial intelligence transforms your request into alternative draft plans that can be loaded with a single click.

Gezirota currently covers routes in Turkey, Iceland, and Portugal, and operates in four languages: Turkish, English, German, and Russian. Your travel plans are stored directly in your browser's local storage (localStorage) rather than on a remote server account. Why Was It Founded?

The core purpose of Gezirota is to make life easier for travelers and prevent them from getting lost on the map. Transforming scattered, unstructured, and often outdated travel information into a single feasible itinerary takes immense effort. Gezirota was created to offer mathematical companionship that focuses purely on your travel comfort and real road dynamics, without any commercial steer or sponsored place placements.

How Are Routes Prepared?

The routes generated in Gezirota within seconds are the outcome of mathematical calculations and rigorous data curation:

  • Real Road Network Routing: Our system never uses straight-line distances; it routes across the actual highway and road network, deriving travel times from realistic speed assumptions based on road types.
  • Distance and Time Optimization: The route engine draws the shortest and most logical path between stops, never making you retrace your steps unnecessarily.
  • Time Budget Guardian: To ensure you don't exhaust yourself behind the wheel on vacation, the algorithm distributes stops evenly across days according to your daily driving budget (such as a maximum of 3 hours on the road per day).
  • Quality Score and Badges: Every travel plan is evaluated on a scale from 0 to 100 based on stop quality ratings, cultural diversity (balancing history, nature, and culture), and driving fatigue. Well-balanced routes scoring 90 and above earn the "Master Traveler" badge.

Where Does the Data Come From?

Gezirota operates by combining reliable open-source data and independent services:

  • Map and Road Network: Road geometry and map layers are powered by open geographic data from the OpenStreetMap (OSM) community. OpenStreetMap® data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
  • Routing Engine: Shortest route, driving distance, and travel time calculations are performed using the open-source OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine) engine.
  • Address Search and Geocoding: Coordinate lookups and place searches are handled via the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service.
  • Weather Forecasts: Weather data for itinerary stops is provided directly via the Open-Meteo API.
  • Place Evaluations: Ratings and popularity indicators for stops are evaluated using real traveler reviews from Google Maps, weighted alongside official site status.
  • Artificial Intelligence: The "Plan with AI" feature uses the Google Gemini API to translate free-text descriptions into draft itineraries.

How Is Content Verified?

All travel content and route information on the platform undergoes multi-layered quality checks:

  • Data Curation and Place Verification: From a raw pool of tens of thousands of locations, only vetted, elite places meeting strict quality and rating thresholds are approved for inclusion.
  • Ready-Made Route Reviews: All templates in the Ready-Made Routes library are individually reviewed for stop order, route logic, and driving feasibility prior to publication.
  • User Feedback and Manual Audits: Places that have closed or experienced drops in quality are tracked algorithmically; feedback submitted through the "Report bug" button in the toolbar is reviewed manually one by one.
  • Automated Link Checking: Platform links are checked on a scheduled basis using our automated broken link scanning service.
  • AI Outputs: Itineraries generated by "Plan with AI" are advisory drafts; travelers should verify opening hours, road conditions, and seasonal constraints before departure.
